9 Little Life Updates

Well 2021 lockdown hit different didn’t it?

Write blog post has been on my to do list every week for the last….three months? I used to pride myself on my ability to churn out daily content and there wouldn’t be a day where I didn’t have the laptop out in front of the tv. These days, the work life balance has been non existent and the idea of sitting in front of another screen has been the last thing I wanted to do - let alone find the bleedin’ time!

Finally though, in front of Gogglebox and snuggled up in a blanket on a Thursday evening I have the time to type a line or two - so what better way than to catch you up on what’s been going on.

THIRTY THREE THINGS I CANNOT WAIT FOR POST PANDEMIC

It’s easy to forget in this moment of madness, this year which has thrown everything we know into disarray that actually, the new normal isn’t well…..normal.

We are not used to mask wearing in the UK, daily press conferences, staying away from our loved ones, spending this much time at home. Shops being closed, children being schooled at home, the inability to just get in the car and drive somewhere or pop in here to pick something up - it’s all alien to our usual way of life and for those of us who didn’t get a taster of those things back in the summer, it’s been a long slog of acting like this is life now.

Whilst there are plenty of aspects of our ‘old’ life I can’t imagine having back (overcrowding can get in the bin and I cannot ever imagine using a public loo) there are also things from our ‘new’ life I’d like to see stay. I definitely can’t see myself going back to the weekly supermarket run with half of Cardiff on a Saturday morning and I’d like to see masks stick around but really, there’s so much of our pre covid days I can’t wait to see again.

Lockdown - How I Really Feel

I am writing this at the end of 12 weeks since complete lockdown here in Wales, unsure what the assembly ministers will announce as our next step and whilst it’s likely it’s a move toward normality, it’s unlikely to be anything that different. 12 weeks since I last went to work, 12 weeks since I last saw my family, 12 weeks since I saw my colleagues, my friends, since I did my commute. And actually, longer than that for most.

In Defence Of The Busy People

You’ll all have seen the memes about the two types of people in lockdown; the people who have taken up three new hobbies, have lost two stone and have grown vegetables…..and the people who have hibernated under a mountain of blankets for the last three months and had their Netflix subscription cancelled for overuse.

11 Things That Have Happened Since We Last Spoke | 10.05.20

Ey up, it’s been a while. Apart from one redesign and one half arsed attempt at lockdown ~ content ~ , I haven’t really given this space any time since I finished my month of wedding posts back in March. And boy oh boy a lot has happened since then. I’m going to talk about Covid and lockdown and how I am in another post but for now, let’s act like we’re having a big ol catch up and I’ll tell you what I’ve been up to since we last spoke.

Wedding Reception | The Big Party

I’d say the party element of the wedding was the easiest most stress free bit of it all - people are drunk by then, ready to have a good time and happy with a bit of food, plenty of booze and some good music to dance to. I also found people just did their own thing and that worked really well with our vibe so some people left early, some kids stayed up late, some people danced, some people chatted, and some people tried to do the dirty dancing lift and nearly broke their arm. By 1am half the group were knackered, half the group were chanting for an encore when the lights went up and the playlist stopped, and my brother had put himself to bed 2 hours earlier.

2010 - 2020 | A Decade in Review

I have only seen two new decades in my life (and a new millennium which will be a once in a generation thing soon), so it felt fitting when I have a platform full of my life and memories, to write about 10 years of them.

2019: My year of letting go

My year of letting go didn’t turn out quite the way I envisaged when I wrote those prompts back in 2019 but then again, I’m not sure I ever really thought it would anyway. I haven’t decided on my theme for 2020 yet but here’s hoping I’m more accurate about whatever it will be.

1 year in work | 1 year out of self employment

As of today I have been working for 395 days and it has gone by faster than you can say ‘regular money’. I think it says everything you need to know about how I’ve found working full time with the fact that I wanted to write this post for my 1 year of work anniversary on July 24th and yet here we are, nearly a month later.

12 things that have happened since we last spoke

It’s been a hot minute hasn’t it?

Blogging has yet again taken a back seat in my life - the story of 2019 - but I have wanted to type and get back into the swing of things for ages now so I thought what better way than a little catch up with everything that’s been going on.

It’s been a good month since we last spoke properly, if you ignore my Easter decor blog post which was very much a photo diary whim post to record for my own future reading. So let’s have a catch up shall we?

Feeling Festive & Missing Blogging.

It’s been a minute huh?

I feel like I haven’t blogged consistently since I started my job back in July but looking back over the year I fell somewhat off the wagon back in April when I committed to ending my freelance career and started job hunting.

My Month In Photos (a chatty life catchup) - October 2018

Another month has flown by and another month where I had good intentions of getting back in to blogging. I am sure you are as sick to the back teeth hearing me bang on about how I am too busy to blog as I am of writing it but here we are again.

My Month In Photos - September 2018

Will there ever be another month where I don’t apologise in my introduction and then do that blogger thing of saying “I don’t need to apologise”? I blogged a mere four times in September, an all time low for this site and I feel pretty shit about it ngl. I want to keep blogging, I have SO many ideas, I have photos to edit and bullet journal posts to write but no flippin time.

My Year Of Yes.

Back in January I really had a think about how I wanted 2018 to pan out for me. You can read the whole blog post here but to sum up, I wanted this year to be punctuated with more happy, fun memories than stress which would be exactly opposite to 2017. I decided to be selfish, at 25 I had a big ol' realisation of what the next few years of my life might be like and I decided to intentionally put fun first, something we forget all too often when you're navigating first homes and savings and car maintenance and bills and life.

One Snowy Day....

The mini beast from the east returned didn't it? I was out of the country (in Venice) when it made it's first appearance, though it didn't stop it delaying my travel plans. I missed the chance to photograph the snow the first time around so when Derek the weatherman (if you know, you know) forecast snow and disruption for a second time this weekend I knew it was my chance.

Yesterday morning, on what would have been a normal sleepy Sunday, Joss and I wrapped up warm in coats and wellies and woolies and took the dogs for a wander round the forest and the lake on our doorstep.
