It’s been a hot minute hasn’t it?
Blogging has yet again taken a back seat in my life - the story of 2019 - but I have wanted to type and get back into the swing of things for ages now so I thought what better way than a little catch up with everything that’s been going on.
It’s been a good month since we last spoke properly, if you ignore my Easter decor blog post which was very much a photo diary whim post to record for my own future reading. So let’s have a catch up shall we?
I wanted to pop a little impromptu instant blog post up to say happy easter and show you my decorations. It’s a little late to give you inspiration for this year but I like to look back on these posts and see what I did and what my house looked like.
I don’t know about you but I am SO done with this winter. I am sick of the constant colds and sniffles, sick of the rain (although I appreciate this is Wales) and sick of not being able to wear less than 10 layers.
The sunshine of the past few days has got me dreaming about summer nights and evening jogs around the lake and driving with the windows down, but seen as June July and August are still a way off yet, I thought I’d embrace spring instead.
So here’s a few musings, a mood if you will, all about my love for spring 2019.
How I found the time to redesign my blog, merge my businesses, relaunch my social media accounts and blog for a whole week is beyond me when all of a sudden it’s been two weeks and I haven’t posted a single thing.
With that in mind and a free hour catching up on a Made in Chelsea from November (I am v far behind with my TV viewings) I thought I’d whizz a post out with a few of my Wednesday favs from the last coupla weeks.
My pre work routine lets me feel prepared on a Sunday night for the working week ahead and more importantly - saves my valuable time in the weekday mornings which I can use for an extra half hour in bed.
Yes that’s right my friends, we are nearly 2 months into 2019 and I finally have new bullet journal content. It’s been a long time coming but it took me a good month to get my journal up and running let alone in a fit state to snap some photos of. And then came the bad weather and the grey days and I encountered the perils of working until it was dark every day.
But now, now we have had some sunshine, I have left work when it is still light and it feels like spring it on it’s way - and with that, a glossy pure white brand new bullet journal. But before we can crack on with that, I guess we better talk about the demise of my 2018 journal first.
Firstly, I can’t quite believe it’s 6 (nearly 7) months since I got my job. The 4 months and hundreds of applications I sent when I was job hunting back in April seemed like the longest 4 months of my life and yet the last 6 of being employed have flown by. It’s the classic case of feeling like it’s whizzed by and feeling like you’ve been there forever at the same time.
It’s been 4 months and 13 days since we got engaged. 4 months and 13 days to get used to a teeny tiny sparkly ring on my left hand, 4 months and 13 days of “no, no plans yet” and 4 months and 13 days of staring blankly at my wedding planner.
It sounds like a bad episode of Friends doesn’t it?
Spoiler alert - as the title might suggest, we didn’t make it out of this one. No, I’m not writing this from the Escape Rooms, we were let out but we didn’t escape within the time frame.
Hello and welcome to twenty something meltdown version 2.0 - or more commonly known as gwennanrees.com
That’s right, a quiet weekend at home and a cheapskate move to avoid paying for multiple website hostings has resulted in a Monday morning change to my whole blogging brand.
Oh Valentine’s Day - whether you love it, loath it, are spending it alone or with pals or with your better half, you can’t escape it.
I am mid way through setting up my 2019 bullet journal (a post coming on that when I have time to photograph it) and I have massively streamlined it. One spread that has made the cut though is 15 questions I have posed to myself.
It’s been a hot minute.
Last time we spoke it was a whole other year (anyone sick of that joke yet?) and I was probably waxing lyrical about how I have no time to blog and how I want to and then it was Christmas and here we are again about a month later.
Starting a new job has been exhausting and whilst I’m fully in the swing of employment, everything else in my life has been a whirlwind so when Jet2 got in touch to talk Christmas breaks and hampers, it was a no brainer on my part.
This Christmas, for the last minute buys and the people you want to treat most - why not gift them the gift of a well deserved break.
Feels a bit bitter sweet writing this for potentially the last time. I have called it a day on advertising bloggers (for now at least) after two years of hard graft and lots and lots of lovely ladies sitting alongside me on my sidebar.
For December then, for the last one it feels fitting that all of my advertisers are repeats, are people who have been with me before and actually, some of the girls who advertised with me on my very very first month all them months ago.
It’s been a minute huh?
I feel like I haven’t blogged consistently since I started my job back in July but looking back over the year I fell somewhat off the wagon back in April when I committed to ending my freelance career and started job hunting.
This weekend marks four whole months of being employed and self employed and it’s taken me about that long to remove all the confidential information out of the photos of my bullet journal so you guys can see it.
It took me about three weeks to commit to a work bullet journal and I haven’t looked back. I went for navy because I am a young professional now and it’s probably got enough space to last me until January and then I’ll be into another one already I think.
Of course, everyone’s work is different so the techniques I use in my bullet journal might not work for you but hopefully it’ll give you some inspiration anyway.
