2018 Bullet Journal #2 | July - December Flip Through

Hi hi remember me? Remember when I said I had a week’s worth of bullet journal content and then urm, didn’t write another one and hey now it's Thursday.

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know work went mad and I have barely been able to breathe let alone write content so anyway, we’re here and there’ll hopefully be some more content up and coming over the weekend.

But onto what you’re REALLY here for; a nosey into my bujo.

I have used two bullet journals per year for two years now and July saw me switch into my berry coloured beauty for the rest of the year. July also saw me start my job so my new bullet journal turned into a slow burner and actually, there are still elements that I have yet to finish.

I feel like I have honed my bullet journal set up for the most part so a lot stays the same and I started by marking out my pages in pencil. I have my standard spreads which aren’t featured here like my monthly calendar, blog calendars and habit trackers and those I have kinda left until I turned the page on the month and needed them.

I started this journal with my key and my key dates and a lot of the layouts have stayed the same like my weight loss tracker, birthday present ideas and my master to do lists. But let’s get into what changed shall we?

Having looked at my journal in depth for this post I realised I haven’t added that much that’s completely new or I haven’t tried before. What has changed though is the way I am laying things out and definitely in my add of colour.

My bullet journals have always been black and white exclusively and I have shied away from colour for the most part and then my real life Pinterest boards took me by surprise and whadda ya know, now it’s full of imagery and colour. For this journal I decided to go head over heels on the colour and I have chucked it in everywhere, with colour coding to boot and actually, I really properly love it.

I had great intentions for this bullet journal when it came to health and fitness and sure it hasn’t gone to plan but the spreads look cute. I had to update my steps tracker when I started doing more and more and more, especially when I stopped being freelance sat at my desk and I started tracking running when I actually found time to do it…..

Back in the heatwave I noticed that my sleep and my mood were getting better and better so I decided to track the weather and my mood tracker alongside each other to see if they aligned and for a lot of the summer they did which I found really interesting.

One thing I have tried which hasn’t worked so much has been my sleep tracker. I started my sleep tracker as a way of seeing how many nights of a month on average I slept through (out of interest, it was 3 nights a month on average). In this journal I have been trying to find a way of combining hours sleep with colour and with marking up whether or not I slept through or woke up or even got up but I haven’t found a spread I’m happy with yet. I also only need a half page and haven’t found anything good enough to match it so I probably won’t actually include it after September’s end.

Bullet journaling has actually taken a massive back seat for me in the past few weeks and it’s all because of work. I am coming home, eating tea, collapsing on the sofa and then spending the weekends rushing about, doing chores and lots of fun things and truth be told, I just haven’t had the time to sit down and use my bujo.

When I think about how I used my bullet journal in the past 6 months of the year, and in the years before that, they have been millions of weekly to do lists and big old master lists of things to remember. I worked freelance, I was childcare for my niece, blogging was more of a priority and I was back and forth my Mum’s house like a yo yo. I had lots of plates spinning, I had lots to remember and my bujo has been my saving grace for a good two years now.

But with a job change it’s hardly surprising my bullet journal habits have changed too. Suddenly I hardly see my parents (in my normal situation, I still see them twice or three times a week lololololololol), I am working less on my own business, I have less outside stuff or home stuff to think about and my to do lists filling up my head mainly centre around work - and I have my own separate bujo for that. Blog post coming soon naturally.

So there we have it, a small humble flip through of my second bullet journal for the year and if you count your lucky stars just enough I might find the 939247832 billion hours it would take to write a post all about the shift in theme of my bujo and how I am finding it now my life and routine have changed. See you on the flip side.
