DIY Fillable Baubles.

DIY FILLABLE BAUBLES.

I promised you two DIYs this Christmas and I didn't disappoint did I?

Following the success of my Christmas wreath I thought I'd try my hand at fillable baubles for our Christmas tree. I have a really sentimental tree theme, less about specific colours and more about things that mean something to us or a collection of things we've accumulated over the years. Every year we buy a few new baubles to add to the tree and this year I thought it'd be sweet if I had a go at making my own.

Save going on a glass blowing course and making breakable ones I thought I'd have a go at fillable ones; ones that come pre made in half and you fill them with whatever you want and then stick them together. I got 4 for £2.00 in Hobbycraft and all the inserts were from Hobbycraft too but you can find them in most hobby or craft stores. My total spend was £8.00 and they'd made a great gift for someone (or a treat for yourself).

Equipment;

- fillable baubles (mine are here

- artificial snow or glitter

- polystyrene beads or fake snow beads

- mini trees

- cute character toys

- scissors

- sellotape

- double sided sticky tape

- string or ribbon

Instructions;

- Stick your mini trees, characters or toys (whatever you have chosen as the inside of your bauble) to one half of the fillable bauble with double sided sticky tape.

- Pour fake snow or glitter into the half of the bauble, this should stick to the tape to cover it so make sure you add a lot as it spreads when you upright the bauble again.

- If you're not using characters and just want fake snow, glitter or beads in your baubles fill one half up to the top (or slightly heaped if you can manage it without dropping it everywhere. The baubles when connected and uprighted become half full.

- Carefully stick your bauble halves together and add sellotape to the bottom to give them that extra bit of strength. Adding tape to the bottom means it's unlikely seen but probably best not to hang them too high on your tree - eye height would be ideal.

- Add string or ribbon to the top of the bauble and tie in a secure knot to hang on your tree!
