Friday Favourites 24th June - 1st July 2016.

Friday Favourites July 1st 2016.

Oh don't mind me just having a minor panic attack over the fact it's JULY ALREADY. Slightly freaking out about how quickly this year is going, isn't time a marvellous thing?

I mentioned on Twitter last night so I thought it'd be good to mention on here again - I'm going to blog every day of July without a break just for the lols. I have the last 17 days of the month covered by guest bloggers anyway and I had so much of my own content scheduled (i.e in my diary not actually scheduled cos lol not organised) that I decided all the YOLO and I've just filled the gaps. So yeah, I'll be blogging every day this month in one form or another so that's nice and exciting for you (hopefully.)

1. Friday Night Dinner.

If you've been following my blog for a little while you'll know that in 2011-2012 I did a years Diploma in Foundation Studies ART & Design in a uni about 45 minutes from my house. I lived at home, I commuted in every day and I made some of the best friends there. You know those people that you don't see for 18 months and then you get together and it's like you weren't just apart for 4 years, it's like you see each other every day at uni again? They're those friends. Last Friday night we met up in my friend's house in the mountain overlooking Caerphilly and we had lots of snacks and a Dominos and digested the Referendum result and just caught up on life. It was bloody brilliant and so refreshing to be with people also a year into life/business/self employment. We chewed the fat over how belittled you feel when people don't understand you starting your own business and it's inspired a blog post so look out for that in August some time!

2. Brexit.

Obviously Brexit wasn't my favourite thing of the week, it was one of the worst in my opinion and I'm sure in a lot of people's opinions. However, bear with me here, the reaction to the polls, whatever way you voted has been split. Obviously the news is full of the hate crimes and the terrible things a minority are doing but on the other hand, bloggers have done good in my opinion. I was so so proud to see just how politically engaged my generation was when normally the turnout for a vote is less than 50%. We did our research, we formed educated opinions and whatever way you voted, getting involved is a good thing. Tina from Tea Is For Tina wrote this post on her thoughts on the Referendum  and I think it's a really really important read from a non voter (read the post, you'll see why). It's mad to think that a blog written by me made her look into her options and I think it really highlights how to government failed to get people engaged. It's seriously one of the best reads on the topic I've seen and it deserves a lot of love.

3. One More Addition To The Family.

Yup a fortnight ago my baby brother proposed to his girlfriend on holiday in Crete with their baby and it's finally Facebook official so everyone knows and I don't have to keep a secret. I have spoken before about how I feel like 'my brother's girlfriend' is such a shitty term for the mother of my niece and I am made up that one day I can call her my sister in law. It's been a good week for family news even if it does make me have cold shivers that my YOUNGER brother has a baby and a flat and a fiancé. It's fine it's fine.

Btw you can buy this balloon on Not On The High Street here.

4. Catching Up.

Yesterday I pootled on down to Cardiff (and battled the Beyonce fan traffic) to pick up this beauty - my flatmate from uni. I've talked about her before, we live just over the Severn from eachother and we get together every few months but it's still bizarre to have to schedule in time to meet up when our bedrooms used to literally be a step away in Wrexham. We met up, it was all too short, we ate good food and then she was home again but it was nice and I finally got to give her the tour of my part of South Wales. Oh and we didn't take a selfie (school boy error) yesterday so here's a really sexy one from the last day we lived together.

5. Growth.

My blog growth in June has been out of this world. Like seriously I can't keep up with my stats, I hit my December 2016 goals within the first 2 weeks of this month, my phone is constantly going off with notifications and even today where I haven't even blogged (up until now), my views have been in the thousands. Obviously I do a review of the month in a few days so I won't go into it too much but I can only say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who reads this little blog and says such lovely things. I love you all, every single one of you.

Side note: I started this draft on Thursday night and then planned to finish it this morning but then me and my boyfriend nipped to Ikea and well, that turned into an impromptu date day and we didn't come home for 6 hours so here we are, it's late but hey, I bought some new cacti which I'll Instagram.
