5 Minutes With My April Advertisers.

Meet my April advertisers.

It's a third of the way through the year nobody freak out ok fine.

My advertising slots for the first time ever went down to the wire - I thought I wouldn't fill all six slots this month but then on the last day of March the last two spaces were snapped up; people like a bargain ya know?

Here's the 6 cherubs who're on my sidebar this month.

5.

Sometimes I feel like you go on a blog and you just immediately connect with their whole aesthetic, theme, the way their blog is laid out....errthang. That's how I feel about Sally's blog - it's just everything I want mine to be but can never pull off. It's super sleek, it's V. pink and marble and bright and light and v. blogger friendly.

4.

So whilst we're on the topic of pink and marble and aesthetically pleasing let's get straight down to business with HOW FLIPPIN GORGE Sally's Instagram is. No wonder she has the following she's amassed, she's an absolute flatlay queen and her theme is very much #goals.

3.

Which leads me verrrrrryyyy nicely onto one of Sally's latest posts all about how she improves her Instagram feed. My fav tip is not being afraid to delete photos, I do this all the time; take photos and feel like I should post it even when it doesn't quite fit with my theme. There's a lot of criticism about overly curated themes but I think Sally is bloody nailing it.

2.

I normally like to just include one recent blog post in my advertising round up but I wanted to share this one as well. Naturally I am alllll over supporting small businesses and bloggers with a side hustle so I was super in love with Sally's post about Dorkface, That Lame Company and Dot Creates and can we just talk about the photos? That background is insane.

1.

If you guys are following Sally on Twitter (@little_budget FYI) you miiiiiight every now and then be spoiled with a picture of the cutest bunny ever and you'll find out, like I did, that Sally and I share the same birthday which basically makes us the greatest advertising partnership ever. That's how Twitter works guys.

Oh hey a little familiar face you might've noticed here! Megan from Lazy Thoughts advertised with me way back in December and was with me here last month but for April she's not only back but she's upgraded from Bronze to one of my Silver advertisers! You can read what I shared about Megan last month over here

4.

I don't want to write the same things about my returning advertisers every month but holy flip Megan's Instagram is genuinely one of the most underrated accounts I have on my feed. I love her, I love everything she posts and I actually just need to shout about how gorge her feed and theme is because she deserves a lot more zeros on the end of her following. Also she got freakishly close to 200 likes on one photo this month and it was criminal she didn't.

3.

Megan's latest post is very conveniently relevant to this whole advertising shabang - about why she thinks advertising is worth it (which as her advertiser is a nice blog post to read). There's been a lot of chat recently as to whether advertising packages are relevant anymore and I'm with Megan - it's all about WHO you advertise with. Sure you might be tempted to go with your pals or go with the biggest following but I think Megan has got it down, it's choosing people whose content is relevant to yours, whose following is likely to enjoy what you do. That's the best way to advertise in my opinion.

2.

I wanted to share Megan's advertising post naturally (btw she might start offering her own soon too so keep an eye out) but my fav post of March was Blogging Tools Worth Investing In. I am soooo on board with this and with the mentality that whilst you DON'T need all the expensive gear to be a good blogger, there are some things that make such a difference when it comes to blogging. My top top top investment would definitely be a domain name, I have to agree, it makes a huge difference when you commit to your own little slice of the internet.

1.

I am thrilled Megan has not only come back to advertise with me multiple times but has decided to up her package to the Silver slot for more coverage. Megan's blog is genuinely one of my favourites, I look forward to reading her posts and seeing what she has going on and that's before we even get on to her social media. She genuinely IS one of the best fits for my sidebar because we blog about similar topics in a similar way and I suggest you get on a binge reading sesh immediately if you haven't read her work before.

What's that - another returning advertiser? Bethany from Spare Oom advertised with me wayyy back in November in my first month of advertising and we had a bit of a lol. Bethany spent the month having the absolute craziest time (she wrote this post after it explaining it all and omg how does one person even do so much) and I spent the month keeping her blog alive!

4.

I feel like since the turn of the new year Bethany's blog has gone from strength to strength. Regular content, cracking content, mixture of content and the most beautiful photography - it's like she's gone wild. Idk, I've been a fan for a while now but even for me who's been reading for months it's like she's just exploded this mass of awesome stuff, a whole new blog, a new look almost and I think she's absolutely bloody killing it.

3.

And here we go with another massively underrated Instagram account. She is absolutely smashing out the flatlays lately and I am alllll over the colour themed really set up and grid like images. Bethany has definitely made some kinda change, 2017 is obviously being good to her because everything is beautiful, curated and tip tip top.

2.

Bethany recently shared a review of the Papergang March box and the photography is everything. I've seen photos of this box flying about everywhere and it's beaut. I totally get where Bethany is coming from though, she cancelled her subscription due to the overflow of notebooks and stationery she now has and that my friends is a problem I can totally relate to. She also shared a cheeky shout out to me and Jemma from Dorkface at the bottom of the post which I wasn't expecting!

1.

I mentioned above that Bethany's brought her A game photography lately but I thought I had to share this as a lasting reminder of why you need to follow her. If there's anything that shouts "beautiful blog but still god damn relatable and hilarious" it's this utter gem of a photo

Let's just start with me gushing a bit about how much I love Leta's blog layout. From her banner to the way everything is laid out on the screen is wonderful. Controversial opinion but as much as I love the sleek focus on one thing at a time approach to blog layouts, something like Leta's captures me just as much. Far from distracting me, I am obsessed with trawling around Leta's blog making sure I haven't missed anything and I have about 71937283 tabs open of things I want to read.

4.

There is NOTHING that intrigues me more than a blog tab that says 'Start Here' and that's absolutely what you should do when you get to Leta's blog. Not your average introduction or about me page Leta has a short intro with a list to blogs she's been featured on and a list of her fav posts she's ever written and it's absolutely one of the best intro pages I've ever seen designed.

3.

Whilst investigating (stalking) Leta's blog I found this little gem from - would you believe it - a year ago almost to the day about 40 Thoughts Girls Have On Their Period. These types of posts are some of my favourite to write and read and I was howling reading this one. So relevant, rings so true and the parting sentiment of 'fuck' is too much.

2.

I'm gonna get allllll controversial here and instead of sharing a link to another gorge Instagram account (which FYI Leta's is), instead I'm going to share Leta's Pinterest which is everything and more. I feel like Leta and I pin really similar things, we obviously share an appreciation of the same kind of aesthetic and I could spend hours on her Interior board alone.

1.

My fav content of Leta's most blog posts is 8 Reasons Why Clubbing & I Don't Go Along. Leta and I might be a few years apart in age (it's 5, she makes me feel ancient) but we are soooo on the same page when it comes to clubbing. I as well am very much a pubbing kinda gal, especially because I don't drink at either but her reasons for not enjoying the clubbing scene are solid. I especially liked there's no food because I hadn't even considered that before and why?? Why would there not be food?? We all like food??

'From fun to fretting and everything in between.' I mean if that ain't the most appropriate tag line for a student blogger I don't know what is. I've been out of uni 2 years in May and I still feel such an affinity with student blogging and university blogs as if I was still there. Lauren's blog is full of university tips, budget tips and all things student with a healthy dose of beauty thrown in for good measure.

4.

Lauren's latest post is a weekly round up post, a little catch up of what she's been up to and what she's got planned. If you want some major life envy/inspiration you should bookmark this page to read later because the Easter Rocky Road will kill you and her nail art is insane. And they're her real nails. I repeat, her real nails. I can't even.

3.

If you're in university or starting this year or even thinking about going, naturally Lauren's 'student life' tab is the one you want to start on. I was having a nosey at some recent and some older posts about student living when I came across this one on apps you should have whilst studying and man I wish I'd known about some of these when I was a Fresher. They do a variety of things from helping you schedule all your study time to helping you revise to helping you budget and I'd have loved to have had a go at some of these a few years ago.

2.

I've gone wild now, I am about to share a THIRD blog post from Lauren's blog. I know, I know, somebody stop me. This came up as a recommended post for me, an open letter written by Lauren to her boyfriend and I loved it. I'm a nosey cow, I like to know about people, to read about people's lives and to know a bit more about them. I like to know the lives behind the beauty reviews sometimes. I loved Lauren's thankyou to her boyfriend so much I would love to do something similar on my blog.

1.

I'm awful with my Facebook for my blog, sometimes I'm ace and share every post for a week and then I'll go a fortnight without sharing anything. Lauren's Facebook for her blog is everything I wish I was doing with mine. Not just sharing links to her blog content and social media Lauren also shares memes and images and general chit chats and it makes it so much more personable and less of a business page. She's a smart gal this one.

Ellen from E L Feelgood Deals & Discounts is a mother of 2 side hustling to make some extra cash to go on holiday - something I'm sure we can alllll get on board with. She's got 2 tabs on her blog; one on making money and one on saving money - the two key areas to having that bit of extra cash. From tips on how to make the most of what you have, shopping savvy and saving tips to using cashback and survey sites (something I am a massive advocate of) - there is SOMETHING you'll be sure to take away from Ellen's blog.

4.

E L Feelgood Deals & Discounts is looking all kinds of Spring-like at the moment. The promo photos sliding about are full of colour and flowers and it's looking beaut. As well as the money, savings and budget side of Ellen's blog, she also has a tab for setting up a blog which is full again of tips and tricks for making a blog, scheduling, social media and basically everything you could ever need.

3.

My favourite post of late, and the first one I went to read when I was on Ellen's site this week was saving tips from her Grandmother. I feel like Grandmother's are the wisest of souls and a lot of them had to live through the war, through rationing and through times much much harder than our own. I think all Nanna's are thrifty and I think most could share a trick or two on how to make the most of the little

2.

Ellen uses her Pinterest to save and promote her blog posts and she does it well. It's Ellen's types of blog posts that do well on Pinterest; blog posts on tips, tricks and things like '5 ways to XYZ' . Make sure you save some of Ellen's posts for later on Pinterest cos you KNOW you're always going to need them.

1.

If there's one post you read before bed tonight make it this one on making money through survey sites. I use survey sites, I make money from survey sites, I always wonder why I didn't know about survey sites before I started using them. I actually have a post on this topic coming up on the blog later this month so wet your appetite with this by Ellen and get researching in the meantime!
